Translated by Žanete Vēvere Pasqualini

When a quiet winter town hides a body, the truth is the last thing anyone wants to face.

In a remote Latvian community sealed by snow and silence, policeman Vincent stumbles upon a bag containing a human hand — an unsettling discovery that sets off a chain of events no one can control.

As the ground stays frozen and the townspeople choose secrecy over justice, Vincent is drawn into the dark histories of two families bound by violence, guilt, and long-buried sins.

At the centre is Jen, a troubled young man raised in cruelty and isolation, whose confession to an accidental killing only deepens the mystery. As Vincent uncovers shocking connections between Jen’s tragedy and his own past, the fragile order of the town begins to fracture.

Haunting, psychological, and steeped in wintry dread, Ice, Flower, Herbarium is a novel about inherited guilt and the thin ice between innocence and evil.
