Fly on the Wall Press wins big at the Manchester Culture Awards 2024

Throughout our six year history, Fly on the Wall Press continually strives to implement positive change and innovation both within the publishing industry and through outreach work in local communities. These efforts have been recognised at the 2024 Manchester Culture Awards, which took place Saturday 23rd November 2024.

Celebrating Manchester as a 'city alive with creativity', the Manchester Culture Awards shine a spotlight on the important work of individuals and organisations across the creative industry in enriching the cultural footprint of the city. This year Fly on the Wall Press was crowned winner in the Promotion of Environmental Sustainability category.

Implementing climate-positive practices in the printing and distribution of our titles, managing director Isabelle Kenyon works to spread this attitude in schools and communities across Manchester. Isabelle has been visiting schools and colleges with her 'Finding a Vocabulary for Climate Anxiety' workshops, where she encourages conversation about the climate crisis, and helps young people tap into their creativity in order to articulate their attitudes towards climate change. In response to findings that 70% of young people feel hopeless about climate change, Isabelle started these workshops with the aim of empowering young people to take control of their futures, using the powers of creative expression and literature to support young people in their journey towards a better future for themselves and their planet.

On a cold Saturday night in central Manchester as Storm Bert swept through the country, leaving chaos in its wake, the urgency of the climate crisis, and the work Fly on the Wall Press is doing to tackle this crisis, seemed ever more pertinent as we collected the award for Promotion of Environmental Sustainability.
